FAQ

What features will the Southeast Event Centre include?

It will include two indoor ice surfaces, of which one will be able to convert to a concert and event venue, capable of holding up to 4,000 people. A multi-use hall where basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and futsal can be played. An atrium to be used as a public gathering space and a walking track.

Will we still have a rink during construction?

Yes the current TG Smith arena will be available during construction. The addition of an larger updated outdoor rink has been constructed on the far southeast corner of the property which includes a warm-up shack.

How long is construction going to take?

Construction began this spring 2023 and is expected to be completed in 18-24 months.

Will construction take place in stages?

With the demolition of the centennial arena, we expect the full project to be completed in one stage. That is the atrium, gym/hall, track, and new arena with a hallway connecting the existing arena and curling club and cinema to be completed in one stage. We will also have a more robust selection of food and concessions as well as full banquet capabilities on the new events centre.
